Are you eligible?

Helping Hand loans are for people on low incomes, who do not have any affordable financial alternatives.  You must be 18 years or more, own your home and have lived there for at least one year.  (Some Councils will help even if you have just moved in, get in touch to ask).

There isn’t limitless money – so we will ask you to share information about your financial circumstances.  This is to make sure that the money available is lent to those who are most needy.

We will also survey your home, to see what work is required, calculate what the work will cost and help you to determine whether you can afford it.   Your financial options might include using your savings, or accessing a loan from a bank, building society or other reputable lender.

If you do not have any affordable options, you may be offered a Helping Hand loan.  Independent Financial Advice will be available at no cost to you, to help you to decide whether the loan is right for you.
